MartPOS Owner is the app for the owner's Android phone. It shows what each branch's store PC has reported to MartPOS Cloud: today's sales against yesterday, profit from the store PC's own books, every bill, stock, khata, purchases and expenses, cash shifts, FBR and what needs your attention, always with the time each branch last reported. It is read-only: nothing in it bills, voids a bill, or changes a price, stock or a balance. This guide covers installing it, signing in and what each screen shows. What the app looks like: the Owner app page.
Who can use it
- The business is on MartPOS Cloud. Every Cloud plan includes the app, and so does a Desktop licence with a Cloud plan on top. The store PCs then send each branch's records to MartPOS Cloud, and the app reads them. A Desktop licence without a Cloud plan keeps the shop's records on its own PC: the app then opens on a page for the Desktop edition, with your plan, your store PCs and notices from the MartPOS team.
- People with an owner portal account. The owner, and the managers, accountants and auditors the owner invited under Members. Each sees what their portal role and branches allow: an accountant sees sales, profit, khata, purchases and expenses and shifts, but not stock or staff; only an owner sees Plan & licence. A manager limited to some branches sees only those, in every list and total.
- A phone with Android 7.0 or later.
Installing the app
- On your Android phone, open the Owner app page in the browser and choose Download for Android. The page also shows the file's version, size and SHA-256.
- When the download finishes, open the file from the browser or the notification.
- If Android says the browser is not allowed to install apps, choose Settings, turn on Allow from this source, go back and choose Install. On Android 7, turn on Unknown sources under Settings › Security instead. You do this once.
- Open MartPOS Owner.
A newer version installs over the old one in the same way, and you stay signed in.
Signing in
Sign in with the email and password of your owner portal account, the same as at martpos.pk. If two-step sign-in is on, the app then asks for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or one of your recovery codes (two-step sign-in). Five wrong passwords in a row lock the sign-in for a minute, as on the web.
A business still waiting for the MartPOS team's approval gets a page that says so, with how to reach the team. A business whose plan is more than 30 days past its due date sees its plan and notices only, until it is paid under Plan & billing in the portal.
What each screen shows
The app has five tabs at the bottom: Home, Bills, Stock, Khata and More.
| Screen | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Home | Today's net sales across your branches against yesterday, bills, gross and net profit; Profit today step by step; what needs attention; a card per branch with its time and FBR queue; the branches compared; how customers paid (khata shown as no new money); this month over a 30-day chart; best sellers with their Urdu names |
| Bills | One business day, all branches or one: sales and returns newest first, how each was paid, what went on khata, who billed it, voided bills. A bill opens line by line: Urdu names, loose quantities, how each line was priced, payments, cash handed over and change, profit, returns against it and the void's reason |
| Stock | Stock value, items in stock, low and out per branch; each item at each branch in its own unit (KG with three decimals), with one place (godown or shop floor) to choose; an item opens its places, prices, packs and barcodes |
| Khata | Customers: what they owe, advances held, those in credit and those past their credit limit, with masked mobile numbers and a WhatsApp reminder. Suppliers: what you owe them |
| More | Alerts, Profit (today, yesterday or 30 days, per branch and per day, with the expense lines), Branches compared (today or 7 days), Shifts and cash, FBR, Purchases and expenses, Items and prices, Transfers, Staff, Notifications from the MartPOS team, Store PCs, Plan & licence and Settings |
The WhatsApp reminder opens WhatsApp with the message written in English and Roman Urdu; you choose the chat and send it yourself. Nothing is sent by MartPOS.
Profit comes from each store PC's own books for each business day, so it equals the profit and loss on that store PC. A day from an older store PC that did not send its books is worked out from its sales and expenses, and marked as estimated.
How fresh the figures are
Every branch carries Data as of with the time its store PC last reported. A store PC sends what is new about every 15 seconds while it has internet. A branch that has not reported for 15 minutes is marked STALE: it may be billing without internet, and its figures catch up by themselves when it is back. Pull down on a screen to ask again.
Notifications
Under More › Settings, switch on Notifications on this phone (Android 13 and later asks for permission then). About every 30 minutes, while the phone has internet and enough battery, the app asks MartPOS Cloud what is new and tells you once about each item: items at their reorder level, stock past or near its date, customers past their credit limit, a branch that went quiet, invoices not with FBR yet, a shift closed short, a large void or refund, your plan, and notices from the MartPOS team. Each kind has its own switch in the app and in Android's settings. A notification opens the screen that deals with it.
The widget, offline use and sharing
- Widget: add MartPOS today to the home screen for today's net sales and profit across your branches, with the oldest branch's time (or STALE).
- Without internet: the app keeps every screen's last figures on the phone. With no internet it shows them with the time they were saved, beside each branch's own time, and a No internet note.
- Sharing: the share button on Home makes the day's report, the figures of the day and of each branch with their times, as a picture and as text, for WhatsApp or any app.
- Theme: System, Light or Dark under More › Settings.
App lock and signing a phone out
Turn on App lock under More › Settings: after five minutes away the app opens only with your fingerprint, face or the phone's PIN. The bill and khata screens are kept out of screenshots and the recent-apps view.
Sign out of this phone is at the foot of More. For a phone you lost or sold, sign in to the owner portal, open Security and choose Sign out beside it under Phones signed in to the Owner app: its access ends at once. A phone not used for 30 days is signed out by itself, and when an owner removes a member under Members, all of that member's phones are signed out too.
Common questions
Can I bill or change a price from the app?
No. The app only reads. Billing, prices, stock and khata are changed on the store PC; items and prices can also be changed in the owner portal (items and prices from the portal).
Why does a branch say STALE?
Its store PC has not reported for 15 minutes, usually because the shop's internet is down or the store PC is off. The shop can still be billing. See cloud sync problems.
Does the app cost extra?
No. It comes with every Cloud plan and with a Desktop licence that has a Cloud plan on top. Plans are on the pricing page.
My accountant cannot see the Stock tab. Why?
Stock and staff are for owners and managers. An accountant or auditor sees sales, profit, khata, purchases and expenses, and shifts. Change a member's role under Members in the portal (the owner portal).
Is there an iPhone app?
The app is for Android phones. On an iPhone, open the owner portal in the browser: it shows the same branches, with the same times.
